Global Esports Federation announces executive team changes to propel 'GEF 5.0' strategy

The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has introduced changes to its executive team as part of its organizational restructuring for the 2024-2028 period, known as 'GEF 5.0'. The appointed executives, including Rustam Aghasiyev, Mark Chay, Mario Cilenti, Eric F. Brinkley, and Thanos Karagrounas, will lead various strategic divisions within the GEF.

 

This move is part of the federation's initiative to drive innovation in portfolio development, commercial growth, and strategic partnerships. The GEF aims to leverage esports' potential and support its global development, building on its commitment to promoting the credibility and legitimacy of esports.

 

The executive team comprises individuals with diverse backgrounds, combining expertise from both traditional sports and esports. Previous experiences include roles at organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, Singapore Swimming Association, and ESL.

 

The GEF's 'GEF 5.0' strategy focuses on enhancing the esports ecosystem and solidifying its position as a credible and inclusive global governing body.

 

Founded in 2019, the GEF has made significant strides in 2023, expanding its global reach by launching the Oceania Esports Federation and the Europe Esports Development Federation.

 

Additionally, the GEF entered into agreements with the International Esports Federation and the Azerbaijan Esports Federation for joint initiatives to foster esports growth. The organization's commitment to innovation and growth reflects its dedication to shaping the future of esports on a global scale.
