Gen.G Overpowers G2 Esports 3-1 in MSI 2025 Bracket Stage Opener

Gen.G Esports secured a 3-1 victory over EMEA’s G2 Esports in the opening round of the MSI 2025 Bracket Stage, sending shockwaves through the tournament. Despite G2's dominant start to the series, Gen.G bounced back with strong team play and strategic dominance, eventually denying G2 a chance to force a game five. G2 now faces early elimination in the lower bracket, with their tournament survival on the line in their next match.

 

The series began with G2 showcasing solid fundamentals, overcoming a tough early draft from Gen.G to win the first game in decisive fashion. However, the tide shifted in the second game as Gen.G found their footing, especially with Park ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk’s outstanding performance on Jhin. Game three saw a dominant performance from Gen.G’s jungler Kim ‘Canyon’ Geon-bu, whose Lee Sin gameplay neutralized G2’s strategy. Gen.G finally closed the series with a confident performance in game four, securing the win at 30:36.

 

Looking ahead, G2’s survival in the tournament depends on their next match in the lower bracket, while Gen.G will continue to build momentum in the upper bracket. The MSI 2025 action continues with FlyQuest facing Anyone’s Legend at 1 am BST tomorrow.
