GameSquare Holdings, the parent company overseeing Complexity, a prominent North American esports organization, has named Paul Loakim as its Head of Events. Tasked with spearheading GameSquare’s events division, Loakim will collaborate with the company’s clients and partners to create gaming and esports events.
Bringing over 15 years of experience in events and marketing, Loakim previously served as the Director of Development at Redrock Entertainment and held positions at the Australian Football League and NCompass International.
GameSquare emphasized Loakim’s extensive experience in large-scale events and brand activations, citing his role in growing the company’s events business. The collaboration in 2022 with content creator TimTheTatman on the TimTheTatman Tailgate event serves as a noteworthy example of the caliber and scope of future events.
Positioned as a rising force in the North American and global esports scenes, GameSquare recently acquired FaZe Clan in October 2023 and boasts ownership of esports agency Code Red, streaming data company Stream Hatchet, creative and production studio Fourth Frame, and merchandise brand Mission Supply, among other entities.
Justin Kenna, CEO of GameSquare, expressed enthusiasm about Paul’s addition to the team, highlighting his 16 years of events and marketing experience. Kenna anticipates the growth of their events business under Loakim’s leadership, emphasizing the importance of innovative approaches to drive customer engagement, especially as GameSquare continues to expand its diverse range of business verticals, including merchandise, esports, content production, and marketing.
