G2 Minnesota, Paris Gentle Mates Kick Off CDL Major 1 2026 with Upper Bracket Wins

The Call of Duty League Major 1 2026 opened with thrilling matches as teams began their quest for Black Ops 7 supremacy. Paris Gentle Mates, the top seed after five weeks of online qualifiers, started the tournament on a high note with a 3-1 victory over Toronto KOI. Travis ‘Neptune’ McCloud delivered an 11 killstreak on Exposure Hardpoint, cementing the win and showcasing why Gentle Mates are among the elite squads this season.

By sending Toronto KOI to the lower bracket, Paris Gentle Mates earned a semi-final showdown in the upper bracket against the Los Angeles Thieves, who had convincingly defeated the Carolina Royal Ravens in their opening match. The matchup promises to be one of the most exciting of the early tournament, featuring two of the world’s top Call of Duty teams.

Meanwhile, G2 Minnesota stunned spectators with an unexpected performance against second-seeded FaZe Vegas. Entering Major 1 as the seventh seed, G2 Minnesota dominated the first map, Blackheart Hardpoint, with a 250-189 victory. The momentum continued with a 6-2 win in Scar Search and Destroy and a narrow 7-5 finish on Den Overload, completing a 3-0 sweep and sending shockwaves through the CDL community.

G2 Minnesota now advances to face defending champions OpTic Texas in the upper bracket semi-final, while FaZe Vegas drops to the lower bracket for a matchup against Boston Breach, keeping their hopes of a deep tournament run alive.
