G2 Hel Becomes First All-Female Team Promoted to Liga Nexo

Posted : 08 May 2025

G2 Hel, the all-female League of Legends team of G2 Esports, has made history by earning promotion to the Liga Nexo, the second-tier division of the European Regional League. The team clinched its spot after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Spanish side Dream Makers in the promotion tournament, coming from behind to win the final two games of the series.

With this victory, G2 Hel becomes the first female team to reach this level of competitive LoL in Europe, marking a breakthrough for women in esports.

Dream Makers, who had placed eighth in Split 2 of Liga Nexo, now face relegation to the third division. G2 Hel’s accomplishment follows other notable milestones for women in esports this year, including Ava ‘florescent’ Eugene’s historic appearance in tier-one VALORANT and Shopify Rebellion Gold’s qualification for the VCT NA Challenger Stage 1.

Although G2 Hel previously competed in the second division of the Northern LoL Championship, their participation then was not earned through promotion but rather an initial placement, and they were relegated after finishing last.

To strengthen the roster for the 2025 season, G2 Hel made key changes by bringing in top laner Zeniv and mid laner Rym ‘rym’ Salloum, who previously played in Germany and France, respectively. The team will now prepare for Liga Nexo's upcoming 24-25 Split 3, with exact dates yet to be confirmed.

Additionally, they are set to compete in the 2025 Equal Esports Cup beginning July 1st, as their upward momentum continues.
