FaZe Clan Signs S1mple on Loan Deal for Austin Major

FaZe Clan has secured Oleksandr 's1mple' Kostyliev from Natus Vincere on a loan deal, with the CS2 icon replacing Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants, who was benched following underwhelming performances at the start of 2025. S1mple will play for FaZe Clan until the conclusion of the upcoming Austin Major next month.

 

This move marks his return to competitive play after a hiatus that began following his participation in the Shanghai Major’s Europe RMR in November, where his loan to Team Falcons ended prematurely due to a failed qualification attempt.

 

S1mple’s contract with Natus Vincere is set to expire at the end of the year, though he hasn’t been part of the starting lineup since taking a break from competitive play in late 2023. During his brief loan with Team Falcons, he competed in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown in 2024 but saw his time with the team cut short. Despite his absence from the starting roster, s1mple’s reputation as one of CS2's legends has made his return highly anticipated.

 

FaZe Clan has struggled in 2025, with only two top-four finishes at PGL Cluj-Napoca and PGL Bucharest. Their performance at BLAST Rivals was particularly disappointing, as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by MOUZ.

 

 With s1mple now on the roster, FaZe hopes to revive their title ambitions. He will also reunite with former Team Liquid teammate Jonathan 'EliGE' Jablonowski, marking a significant partnership for the squad during this crucial period.

 

FaZe’s Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen expressed his excitement about s1mple’s arrival, calling it a "unique opportunity" and emphasizing their shared goal of securing the trophy at the Austin Major. Other members of the esports community, including analyst Jacob ‘Pimp’ Winneche and Team Spirit’s Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets, have also voiced their excitement about the move. S1mple will make his debut with FaZe at the IEM Dallas, set to begin on May 19th.
