Evo Champion SonicFox Joins FlyQuest

Dominique ‘SonicFox’ McLean, widely regarded as one of the greatest fighting game players of all time, has officially joined esports organization FlyQuest, the team announced on December 12th. SonicFox shared their excitement on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I look forward to flying high with FlyQuest.”

In a playful announcement video on X, FlyQuest highlighted SonicFox’s incredible career, noting their eight Evo titles across five different games. In a humorous skit, SonicFox confidently declared, “I’m the best,” while fellow Evo champion Justin Wong jokingly challenged them for “more,” sparking light-hearted banter between the two. Despite the joking confusion, SonicFox expressed motivation to achieve even greater success with FlyQuest, and the organization assured fans that this partnership is built for the long term, not just a single tournament victory.

Although specific plans were not revealed, the fighting game community is already speculating about what SonicFox’s “more” might entail. With new fighting game titles emerging in 2025 and beyond, SonicFox could expand their competitive repertoire and continue building their legacy across multiple esports titles.

SonicFox’s career spans over a decade, with tournament wins in Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat 11, Mortal Kombat 1, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Recently, they have been exploring Riot’s 2XKO, finishing runner-up at DreamHack Atlanta to William ‘Leffen’ Hjelte, signaling potential future competition under FlyQuest.

Known for their unapologetic personality and fearless expression in the fighting game community, SonicFox’s move to FlyQuest promises exciting opportunities for both the player and the organization, as they aim to dominate new tournaments and titles together.
