Two prominent Call of Duty League (CDL) franchises could undergo significant changes ahead of the 2026 season, as Minnesota Rokkr and Atlanta FaZe appear to be preparing for possible rebrands.
According to recent filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, both teams have submitted trademarks suggesting new logos and potential name changes. The move has sparked widespread speculation across the esports community.
For Atlanta FaZe, the changes could be more than cosmetic. Parent company FaZe Media Inc. has filed trademarks for logos that merge FaZe Clan’s branding with the word “Vegas.” This development follows the Vegas Falcons’ relocation to Riyadh, which left the Las Vegas franchise slot open. The filings have intensified rumours that Atlanta FaZe may relocate and rebrand as Las Vegas FaZe.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Rokkr — operated by G2 Esports through its partnership with Version1 — has also submitted a new logo trademark. Instead of the familiar Rokkr identity, the branding highlights “G2 Minnesota,” hinting at a full rebrand under G2’s global esports banner.
While trademark filings don’t guarantee immediate rebrands, they often indicate long-term planning. If both teams move forward, the 2026 CDL season could mark the first time none of the league’s original 2020 franchise names remain intact.
The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 season is already set to feature fresh branding, with the Vegas Falcons transitioning to Riyadh Falcons. Additionally, rumours suggest Toronto Ultra may rebrand as Toronto KOI, integrating OverActive Media’s KOI brand.
These potential shifts reflect a broader trend in CDL, where organisations are aligning closer with global esports identities and regional market opportunities.
