Team Liquid’s longtime support player Aydin “Insania” Sarkohi has announced his retirement from professional Dota 2, marking the end of an illustrious decade in competitive esports. The Swedish veteran departs Team Liquid after six successful years with the organization, having joined the roster in 2019 following his stint with Alliance.
The announcement was made via Team Liquid’s official social media channels, confirming Insania’s decision to step away from professional play. Throughout his career, Insania earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most accomplished and respected Dota 2 players, guiding his teams through some of the game’s biggest stages and earning multiple titles along the way.
His crowning moment came in 2024, when he led Team Liquid to victory at The International 2024, sweeping Gaimin Gladiators 3-0 in the Grand Final to lift the coveted Aegis of Champions. The win cemented Insania’s legacy as one of the key figures in modern Dota 2 history.
Following his retirement announcement, Insania expressed gratitude to his supporters on social media, saying, “Thanks for the overwhelming number of people saying kind and nice words. I’ll be taking a break but will be looking to work in the Dota scene again, whether that’s casting or coaching.”
Team Liquid has also revealed plans to commemorate Insania’s six-year contribution to the organization, promising to “share something special to honour his legacy” in the near future.
Insania’s competitive journey began in 2017 with Ninjas in Pyjamas before moving to Alliance in 2018, where he won several regional titles including joinDOTA Season 13 Europe and the GG.Bet Birmingham Invitational. His switch to Team Liquid marked a new chapter of elite competition, with consistent top finishes across international events.
Under Liquid’s banner, Insania helped the team secure third place at The International 2022, followed by runner-up finishes at the Lima Major 2023, DreamLeague Season 19, and the ESL One Berlin Major 2023. The team’s 2024 campaign brought further glory, with wins at Elite League Season 2 and The International 2024. He continued to achieve success into 2025, capturing titles at PGL Wallachia Season 3 and Season 4.
As one of Dota 2’s most respected captains and tacticians, Insania leaves behind a legacy defined by leadership, consistency, and a passion for the game — qualities that will likely follow him into his next chapter within the Dota 2 community.
