Ava "florescent" Eugene, the first female professional player in the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), has announced she will take a break for the remainder of the 2025 season.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), flor shared that she needs time to rest and recharge, acknowledging that she may return to competing in the future but isn’t focused on that decision right now.
Her decision comes after a challenging relocation to the EMEA for bootcamp, which she described as difficult, alongside personal and family emergencies that have made her time in Germany tough.
Flor's decision to step back comes after she had been supportive of her teammates, allowing them to focus on Split 2 without interruptions.
Despite several VCT teams expressing interest in purchasing her contract, which was supported by Apeks, flor remains determined to take a break from competitive VALORANT.
Apeks, the organization she has been with, expressed full support for her decision, acknowledging that sometimes life circumstances can take priority over competitive goals.
Ava Eugene made history when she became the first female player to compete in the VCT International League. Starting her career at 14, flor quickly gained recognition for her mechanical skills and strategic thinking, particularly during her time with Shopify Rebellion, where she helped them win the Game Changers Championship.
Although she faced some backlash from parts of the VALORANT community when she joined Apeks, flor proved herself capable of competing at the highest level, silencing critics along the way.
