Usyk Announces Two More Fights Before Retirement

Posted : 13 February 2025

World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has revealed his plans to retire after two more fights. The 38-year-old Ukrainian, who remains undefeated, announced that one of his upcoming bouts will be against the winner of the Daniel Dubois versus Joseph Parker match later this month.

Usyk, who made history last May by defeating Tyson Fury to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion in nearly 25 years, has already relinquished the IBF belt but still holds the unified WBC, WBA, and WBO titles.

Usyk shared his future plans with Sky Sports, stating that he feels in great shape and is preparing for a maximum of two more bouts before stepping away from boxing. He expressed confidence in facing either Daniel Dubois or Joseph Parker, with both fighters vying for a shot at his championship titles. Usyk’s announcement came after his rematch victory over Fury, which solidified his position as one of the sport’s top champions.

Daniel Dubois, who was defeated by Usyk in 2023, is eager to avenge that loss. The reigning IBF champion will first face New Zealand’s Joseph Parker in Riyadh on February 22, with hopes of securing a rematch with Usyk. Dubois expressed his belief that his world title victory has helped him improve as a fighter and is ready to face whoever stands in his way, including Usyk.
