Noel Mikaelian reclaimed the WBC cruiserweight title with a unanimous points decision over Badou Jack in Los Angeles.
The German fighter had previously lost the belt to Jack in May but delivered a strong performance in their rematch on Saturday, convincing all three judges with scores of 115-111, 116-110, and 116-110.
The fight was tense and occasionally chaotic, with Mikaelian, 35, being penalized a point in the seventh round for striking the back of Jack’s head.
Jack, 42, also had a point deducted in the eighth round for hitting after the bell. Officials and both corners had to intervene to separate the two fighters as tensions flared.
With this victory, Mikaelian’s professional record improved to 28 wins and three losses from 31 fights. Jack’s record now stands at 29 wins, four losses, and three draws from 36 bouts.
The rematch showcased Mikaelian’s resilience and determination to reclaim his status atop the cruiserweight division.
