Jake Paul Vows to 'Shock the World' Against Anthony Joshua in Miami

Posted : 17 December 2025

Jake Paul plans to "shock the world" and "pull off the biggest upset in sports history" when he takes on former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in Miami.

The YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, who holds a 12-1 record and recently defeated ex-middleweight world champion Julio César Chávez Jr in June, will face Joshua in an eight-round bout on Friday.

Speaking at a public workout, Paul said: "One of us is going to sleep—that's what we're going to do here. That's what this heavyweight fight is all about.

I started my boxing journey here in Miami. We're bringing it back, and I'm going to shock the world and pull off the biggest upset in sports history."

Joshua, who held the unified world heavyweight title from 2017 to 2019 and again from 2019 to 2021, welcomed the challenge.

"It was an honour to be invited to America, to perform in front of the Miami crowd and the international fans. I just said, 'It's got to be done.' I have to give him respect because I’m fully ready," Joshua said.

Talks are also ongoing regarding a potential fight between Joshua and Tyson Fury in 2026. Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, told Sky Sports News: "Nothing has been signed yet, but Tyson's indicated that if the deal is right, he'll definitely do it. Fans have been asking for this fight for years. When it happens, it’s going to be massive."

On the undercard, undefeated WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois will make her debut for Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, facing Camilla Panatta. Dubois, who has won 11 and drawn one of her 12 professional fights, stated: "Every time I step into the ring, it’s excitement, knockouts, and bad intentions.

I believe I’m one of the baddest women on the planet, and I can’t wait to show the world who I am. It’s time to shine."

With both the main event and the undercard promising high-stakes action, the Miami fight night is set to capture global attention and potentially reshape the heavyweight landscape.
