Jake Paul Threatens Boxing Retirement if Cedric Doumbe Beats Him

Posted : 04 November 2026

Jake Paul has vowed to walk away from professional boxing if he suffers defeat against MMA star Cedric Doumbe in their scheduled December 24 contest in Dubai.

The fight will mark Paul's return to the ring after almost a year away, following a sixth-round stoppage loss to former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in December 2025, which left him with a broken jaw requiring surgery and the insertion of titanium plates.

The 29-year-old American has described Doumbe as a dangerous opponent, acknowledging the Frenchman's achievements as a former kickboxing world champion.

However, Paul believes the boxing rules will favour him, as the eight-round cruiserweight contest will not permit kicks or takedowns. He has also promised to knock out his opponent and bring the fight to an early conclusion.

Paul has won 12 of his 14 professional boxing contests, with his defeats coming against Tommy Fury and Joshua. Doumbe, 34, has built most of his reputation through kickboxing and mixed martial arts, winning multiple world titles in kickboxing before joining the Professional Fighters League.

Although he has limited professional boxing experience, the December encounter will give him an opportunity to test himself against Paul under traditional boxing rules.
