Two-time Olympic bronze medallist Ivan Dychko is targeting a historic path to becoming Kazakhstan's first-ever world heavyweight champion. The 35-year-old contender is set to make his professional debut on British soil this weekend. He will face undefeated English fighter Harvey Dykes at the Bournemouth International Centre on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The high-stakes undercard battle will be broadcast live via Sky Sports.
This highly anticipated bout marks Dychko's return to the United Kingdom for the first time since the London 2012 Olympic Games. During those games, the Kazakh giant narrowly lost an intense semi-final match against local star Anthony Joshua. Dychko enjoyed a highly decorated amateur career before turning professional. He holds notable amateur victories over world-class heavyweights including Zhilei Zhang, Filip Hrgovic, and Bakhodir Jalolov.
The veteran heavyweight started his professional career with an impressive streak of 14 knockouts in 15 victories. However, his unbeaten run ended following a tough defeat against American contender Jermaine Franklin Jr. last September. Dychko remains highly confident in his ability to rebound strongly against Dykes. He stated that his extensive amateur experience will guide his tactical strategy in the ring on Saturday night.
Away from his own fight preparations, Dychko offered a balanced tactical prediction for the proposed mega-fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Joshua is scheduled to make his ring return on July 25 against Kristian Prenga in Jeddah. That bout serves as a crucial warmup before a potential winter clash against Fury. Dychko believes Fury could win a decision; conversely, he notes Joshua possesses the sheer knockout power to stop Fury.
The undercard in Bournemouth will also feature rising English prospect Leon Hughes defending his perfect professional record against Bulgaria's Mario Vergiev. Additionally, undefeated welterweight Alex MacMillan will square off against late replacement Leo Fanthome in a six-round contest. Early coverage of the preliminary card begins on Saturday evening through the Sky Sports digital streaming platforms.
