British heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma and Filip Hrgovic were involved in a heated confrontation at Friday’s weigh-in ahead of their vacant IBF heavyweight title bout at London’s O2 Arena.
Itauma, 21, pushed the 34-year-old Croatian off the stage during their tense face-off, with Hrgovic responding by slapping him before security personnel separated the two fighters. The incident followed several days of verbal exchanges, with Itauma admitting that Hrgovic’s repeated provocations had finally got under his skin.
Itauma weighed 17st 4lb (110kg), while Hrgovic came in at 16st 12lb (107kg), his lightest weight in seven years. The unbeaten Briton is aiming to become the second-youngest heavyweight world champion in history when the pair meet for the vacant IBF belt on Saturday.
