Naoya Inoue is preparing for one of the biggest fights of his career as he takes on fellow unbeaten fighter Junto Nakatani in a highly anticipated showdown at the Tokyo Dome. The bout, expected to draw a crowd of around 55,000, brings together two of Japan’s top boxing stars in a historic all-domestic clash.
Inoue, the undisputed super-bantamweight champion, will defend his world titles for the seventh time as he looks to extend his perfect professional record. Known as “The Monster,” he enters the fight with 32 wins, including 27 knockouts, and has dominated the division in recent years.
His opponent, Nakatani—nicknamed “Big Bang”—also holds an unbeaten 32-0 record and has built a reputation as one of boxing’s most technically skilled fighters. A former world champion across multiple weight classes, he steps into one of the biggest challenges of his career after moving up to super-bantamweight.
Inoue has described Nakatani as a disciplined and intelligent opponent, noting the need for focused preparation ahead of the bout. He admitted that both fighters share a similar mindset and that he has trained accordingly for the challenge.
Nakatani, meanwhile, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete on such a major stage and said he had undergone an intense training camp. Both fighters have been in strong form, with recent victories reinforcing their status among the sport’s elite pound-for-pound competitors.
The Tokyo Dome event also features Inoue’s younger brother, Takuma Inoue, who will compete on the undercard in another all-Japanese title fight, adding further significance to an already historic night for boxing in Japan.
