Glorious Boxing Promotions Hosts Anti-Insecurity Campaign Event in Ibadan

Posted : 09 June 2026

An advocacy-driven boxing event tagged “Fight Until The Killings Stop” took place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State. Organized by Glorious Boxing Promotions, the event used combat sports as a visual platform to voice deep concern over nationwide insecurity and persistent violent killings. A large crowd of sports enthusiasts gathered at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly known as Liberty Stadium, to support the campaign for national peace.

The evening featured a balanced card designed to promote unity and showcase local boxing development. Several amateur bouts commenced the event, offering emerging local talents a public platform to demonstrate their technical skills. Following the grassroots exhibitions, seven professional contests delivered high-level action, headlined by popular fighters Rasheed "Efele" and Oyewole Ibrahim "Coded" in an entertaining showdown.

The organizers expressed a firm belief that sporting events can serve as powerful vehicles for positive social transformation. Ganiyu Oladayo, Chief Executive Officer of Glorious Boxing Promotions, stated that the initiative was specifically conceived to deploy sports as a tool for public advocacy. He emphasized the urgent need for collective community efforts to restore safety and security across Nigerian towns.

Key sports administrative officials were present to assess the performances and praise the discipline of the participating athletes. Hon. Gbenga Opaleye, Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), expressed immense satisfaction with the technical quality of the professional bouts. He lauded the boxers for displaying exceptional determination, strict discipline, and admirable sportsmanship inside the ring.

Amateur boxing officials also highlighted the long-term athletic benefits of the advocacy event. Edna Aiyegbeni, Chairperson of the Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association (OSABA), commended the amateur fighters for their impressive displays. She noted that the contests highlighted an abundance of raw boxing talent within Oyo State, reinforcing the role of grassroots competitions in developing future national champions.

The promoter concluded the event by thanking vital stakeholders, security agencies, and fans who ensured a safe environment. Oladayo reiterated his call for an immediate end to the criminal activities and community violence currently fueling public anxiety.
