Former world boxing champion Ricky Hatton has passed away at the age of 46, according to Britain’s Press Association. Hatton was found dead at his home in Hyde, northwest England, with Greater Manchester Police confirming that his death is not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesperson stated, “Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6:45 am today, where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
Hatton, known for his relentless and aggressive fighting style, held world titles in both the light-welterweight and welterweight divisions, earning him widespread popularity in the UK. He progressed through amateur and domestic boxing ranks before facing some of the sport’s biggest names, including Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao.
Beyond his achievements in the ring, Hatton was open about the mental health struggles he faced after retiring from professional boxing. In July, he had announced plans for a comeback, set to fight Eisa Al Dah in Dubai this December.
