Derrick Lewis Delivers Spectacular Knockout at UFC Fight Night in Nashville

UFC heavyweight powerhouse Derrick Lewis lit up the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night with a trademark knockout victory over Tallison Teixeira in the main event of UFC Fight Night. Known for his explosive finishes, Lewis wasted no time in asserting dominance, launching a barrage of heavy punches from the opening bell.

Within the first three minutes of the bout, Lewis had Teixeira on the defensive. As the Brazilian attempted to respond with pressure of his own, he walked directly into a crushing left hook from Lewis that dropped him to the canvas. Sensing the finish, Lewis unleashed a flurry of strikes on the grounded Teixeira, prompting referee Jason Herzog to step in and stop the contest.

To the amusement of the crowd, Lewis added his signature post-fight antics by removing his pants in celebration. UFC CEO Dana White later revealed that Lewis even received a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump, who was watching the event remotely.

“Derrick came over and said, ‘Where’s the President?’ And I said he’s not here tonight, but he’s watching. And I got him on the phone and put him on,” White shared.

Bonfim Edges Wonderboy in Co-Main Event

In the co-main event, Brazilian rising star Gabriel Bonfim secured a split-decision victory over UFC veteran Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. While the crowd voiced support for Thompson throughout the fight, Bonfim’s activity level and superior grappling ultimately swayed the judges in his favor.

Despite Thompson’s efforts to control the pace with his striking, Bonfim frequently brought the action to the ground, showcasing strong positional control and offensive wrestling. The judges scored the bout 28-29, 29-28, and 29-28 in favor of Bonfim, who previously rose to prominence through the Dana White Contender Series.
