Claressa Shields Signs $8 Million Multi-Year Deal

Posted : 11 November 2025

Five-division world champion Claressa Shields has inked an $8 million multi-year contract with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records, marking a historic moment in women’s boxing. The announcement was made on Thursday by the promotion company, which described the deal as the richest in the sport’s history.

Shields, 30, is unbeaten in all 17 of her professional fights. In February, she became the first undisputed women’s heavyweight champion by defeating Danielle Perkins, capturing the IBF, WBO, and WBA heavyweight belts alongside her WBC title.

Dmitriy Salita, speaking at a news conference in New York, hailed the contract as a groundbreaking moment for both women’s boxing and women’s sports in general. “This is the richest agreement in women’s boxing, including a minimum guarantee of $8 million across multiple fights,” he said.

Shields, who won middleweight gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, noted the disparity in opportunities between male and female boxers turning professional.

Under her new deal, Shields will receive an $8 million contract over two years, including a $3 million signing bonus—before stepping into the ring. While her opponents for upcoming bouts have not been announced, Shields expressed interest in facing fellow American Mikaela Mayer. “In 2025 or 2026, I would love to fight Mikaela Mayer. Given the way she beat Mary Spencer, I’d love to see her throw those punches at me,” she said.

The landmark contract not only cements Shields’ status as one of the sport’s all-time greats but also represents a significant step forward for the visibility and financial recognition of women’s boxing.
