Caroline Dubois Dominates Panatta to Retain WBC Lightweight Title

Posted : 20 December 2025

Caroline Dubois produced a commanding performance on American soil, defeating Italy’s Camilla Panatta by unanimous decision to retain her WBC lightweight title at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The 24-year-old Londoner showcased poise and precision in her first professional bout outside the United Kingdom.

From the opening bell, Dubois controlled the tempo with sharp footwork and intelligent movement, consistently beating Panatta to the punch. Her superior speed and timing were evident as she boxed calmly from her southpaw stance, gradually widening the gap in class between the two fighters.

The champion landed clean combinations throughout the early rounds, with a straight left repeatedly finding its target. As the contest progressed, Dubois began to mix body and head shots effectively, drawing approval from ringside observers, including fellow boxer Chris Billam-Smith.

The defining moment came in the sixth round when Dubois delivered a perfectly timed counter right. As Panatta dipped forward to attack the body, Dubois slipped the shot and struck cleanly on the chin, sending her opponent crashing to the canvas for the bout’s only knockdown.

Although Panatta beat the count and showed determination to continue, the knockdown visibly affected her. Dubois remained composed, pressing forward with controlled aggression and varying her attacks with jabs, uppercuts, and body shots.

Fighting on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight bout against Jake Paul and making her debut under new promoters Most Valuable Promotions, Dubois closed out the final rounds with authority. The judges’ scorecards reflected her dominance, all scoring the contest 99-90 in her favour.

The victory extends Dubois’ professional record to 12 wins and one draw, while handing Panatta a third defeat in her career. Despite the emphatic win, Dubois remained self-critical afterward, rating her performance as a “B” and suggesting there is still more to come from the reigning champion.
