Canelo Alvarez Vows Historic Showdown as He Prepares for Mega Fight Against Terence Crawford

Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez has declared that his upcoming title fight with Terence Crawford will be among the most memorable of his career. The bout, scheduled for 13 September in Las Vegas, pits two four-division champions against each other, with Crawford moving up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez for his undisputed super middleweight crown.

 

The announcement follows Alvarez's recent unanimous decision victory over IBF champion William Scull in Riyadh, where Crawford was present and publicly challenged him.

 

Speaking at a press conference in Riyadh to promote the blockbuster bout, the 34-year-old Alvarez expressed his excitement and determination to continue making history. With a record of 63 wins, two losses, and two draws, including 39 knockouts, Alvarez emphasized the importance of winning and his deep passion for the sport. While acknowledging Crawford’s formidable skills, Alvarez remained confident, stating that while his opponent is great, “he’s not Canelo.”

 

Crawford, aged 37, is also a legend in his own right, boasting an undefeated record of 41 wins with 31 knockouts. He described the fight as the defining moment of his career, viewing Alvarez as the last of the greats from an era that included Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and Oscar De La Hoya. For Crawford, who never had the opportunity to face those iconic fighters, this matchup represents his long-awaited mega fight.

 

Despite their mutual respect, both fighters made clear that victory is their only goal. Crawford insisted he would not be intimidated or change his style, confidently asserting he will do whatever it takes to win. As their promotional tour moves to New York and Las Vegas, anticipation is building for a historic clash between two of boxing’s modern legends.
