Amanda Serrano to Retire After Final Fight Against Skye Falzon in Puerto Rico

Posted : 28 October 2026

Seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano will bring her professional boxing career to a close on January 9, 2027, when she faces Australia’s Skye Falzon in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 38-year-old will defend her unified WBA and WBO featherweight titles at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in a farewell contest billed as The Last Walk.

Serrano, who turned professional in 2009, will enter the ring with a record of 50 victories, four defeats and one draw. Her final appearance offers an opportunity to achieve another milestone by setting a new record for knockouts in women's professional boxing.

The Puerto Rican star has recorded 32 knockouts, matching the mark set by American boxing pioneer Christy Martin. Serrano was unable to surpass the record in her most recent outing, when she defeated Argentina's Lucrecia Manzur by majority decision to secure her 50th career win. She will now have one last opportunity to claim the record outright before retiring.

Serrano expressed her excitement about ending her career in front of her home supporters, acknowledging the role her family and fans have played throughout her journey.

She said boxing had shaped her life in ways she could never have imagined and described the opportunity to conclude her career in Puerto Rico as particularly meaningful. She also promised supporters a memorable final night in the ring.

Her opponent, 37-year-old Falzon, arrives with 12 victories and two defeats, including seven wins by knockout. The Australian will face the biggest challenge of her professional career as she attempts to take Serrano's world titles on the champion's home turf.

The fight will consist of 12 three-minute rounds, following the championship format Serrano has long advocated for women's boxing. Throughout her career, she has campaigned for female fighters to have the option of competing under the same rules as male world champions, making the format of her farewell fight significant beyond the result itself.

Serrano's legacy extends well beyond her championship achievements. She has won world titles across seven weight divisions and became the first Puerto Rican boxer, male or female, to become an undisputed world champion. Her historic rivalry with Ireland's Katie Taylor also helped bring greater international attention to women's boxing, including their landmark 2022 bout at Madison Square Garden.

After her final fight, Serrano intends to remain involved in the sport and continue advocating for better opportunities, recognition and fair treatment for the next generation of female boxers.

The January showdown will therefore represent both the conclusion of an exceptional career and a celebration of Serrano's lasting influence on boxing. Fans will be watching to see whether she can finish her journey with a victory, retain her titles and establish a new knockout record before walking away from professional competition.
