Agulo Seite BC Crowned Champions as 2025 YBL Season Ends in Shagamu

Posted : 01 July 2025

Agulo Seite Boxing Club has emerged champions of the 2025 Yucateco Boxing League (YBL) Season Two, which concluded with a thrilling grand finale in Shagamu, Ogun State, in front of hundreds of boxing fans and stakeholders.

The second season of Africa’s first Olympic-style boxing league drew top-level talent and featured one of the most competitive editions to date. The finale was a dramatic showdown that rewarded skill, consistency, and determination.

Agulo Seite BC clinched the crown after a closely contested battle with Ogbas Families Boxing Club. Both teams were tied on points going into the final round, but Agulo Seite pulled ahead based on the number of fights won across the season.

Boxers who topped their weight classes each received ₦2 million. First and second runners-up were awarded ₦1 million and ₦500,000 respectively across the 13 weight categories. As a team, Agulo Seite BC received a grand prize of ₦50 million.

The award for the Most Valuable Boxer (MVB) went to Samuel Dahunsi of Ogbas Families BC, who earned a plot of land valued at ₦20 million in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Dahunsi praised the league’s impact on his career, saying:

“This is truly a defining moment in my career. The Yucateco Boxing League has set me on a more progressive trajectory, and I can’t thank the organizers enough.”

Founder of Agulo Seite BC, Fausat Deinde, attributed the team’s success to discipline, consistency, and hard work.

“This is not an easy feat. A lot of work and dedication went into it. We will remain focused and hope to defend the title next season,” she stated.

The season featured over 300 boxers representing 12 accredited boxing clubs, with more than 520 bouts contested since the tournament kicked off in August 2024.

Yucateco Boxing Promotions CEO, Hon. Omolei Imadu, expressed satisfaction with the growth of the league, which produced several national champions at the last National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

“My goal is to drive a sustainable model for boxing development in Nigeria. The league is just the beginning,” he said.

Imadu also revealed plans to contest a seat on the board of the Nigeria Boxing Federation in the upcoming elections, stating:

“At that level, I’ll be able to initiate a holistic mechanism to advance the sport nationwide.”

As YBL Season Two wraps up, Yucateco Boxing Promotions is set to launch a new initiative in July: an Inter-Local Government Tournament, alongside ongoing Fight Night Showcase events in Ogun and Ekiti States, to keep boxers active ahead of the new season in October.
