Victor Wembanyama continued his phenomenal start to the 2025/26 NBA season by becoming the first player in league history to record 100 points and 15 blocks in his opening three regular-season games. The French star’s dominant display powered the San Antonio Spurs to a 118-107 victory over the Brooklyn Nets in Texas, extending their unbeaten run.
The Spurs appeared to be cruising with a commanding 81-55 lead midway through the third quarter, but the Nets mounted a strong comeback with a 26-7 run that cut the deficit to just seven points. However, San Antonio regrouped in the final period, sealing the win with a decisive 10-0 run to close out the game.
Wembanyama was once again the standout performer, posting 31 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and six blocks in 36 minutes. The 21-year-old, selected as the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2023, is currently averaging 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and six blocks through three games. Standing at 7ft 4in, the French centre has made a strong return after missing eight months due to shoulder surgery for deep vein thrombosis earlier this year.
Elsewhere in the league, Austin Reaves delivered a career-best 51 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers past the Sacramento Kings 127-120, stepping up in the absence of LeBron James and Luka Dončić.
Anthony Davis contributed 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Toronto Raptors 139-129. Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard scored 30 points and James Harden added 20 in the Los Angeles Clippers’ 114-107 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Despite an outstanding performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who tallied 40 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists, the Milwaukee Bucks fell short in a 118-113 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
