Wembanyama Explodes for 43 Points as Spurs Extend Winning Streak Against Timberwolves

Posted : 01 November 2026

Victor Wembanyama produced another outstanding performance as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-111 in their NBA regular-season encounter on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The French superstar recorded a season-high 43 points to help San Antonio secure its fourth consecutive victory.

Wembanyama attempted a career-high 34 field goals, converting 17 of them. He also contributed seven rebounds, four assists, six blocks and one steal in an impressive all-round display at the Frost Bank Center.

The 22-year-old added three three-pointers from eight attempts and converted six of his nine free throws. His performance marked the second-highest scoring total of his NBA career, behind the 50 points he recorded against the Washington Wizards in November 2024.

Wembanyama also achieved a significant defensive milestone. He became the first San Antonio player since David Robinson in 1996 to record at least 40 points and five blocks in a single game. He also became the first NBA player since Joel Embiid in 2022 to accomplish the feat.

The victory was particularly significant because it marked the first time the Spurs won a game in which Wembanyama attempted at least 30 field goals. His previous attempts at that shooting volume ended in defeats against the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2024-25 season.

Second-year guard Dylan Harper also delivered an impressive performance, scoring a regular-season career-high 25 points on nine-of-17 shooting. He added seven rebounds and six assists to strengthen San Antonio's offensive effort.

De'Aaron Fox contributed 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while the Spurs won the rebounding battle 49-38.

Wembanyama's performance earned praise from head coach Mitch Johnson, who highlighted the importance of his growing understanding of playing alongside his teammates.

"When he plays with his teammates, it really causes a problem for the other team, whether that's spacing, handling the basketball, playing two-man game or three-man game," Johnson said.

Harper also praised the Frenchman's influence, describing him as dominant and difficult to stop whenever he takes control of a game.

Minnesota struggled with several important absences. Star guard Anthony Edwards missed the encounter through a knee injury, while Rudy Gobert and Donte DiVincenzo were also unavailable.

Ayo Dosunmu led the Timberwolves with 27 points and nine rebounds. Jonathan Kuminga and Jaden McDaniels added 19 points each, but their contributions were insufficient to prevent another defeat.

LaMelo Ball finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists before fouling out with 3:43 remaining.

The result extends San Antonio's winning streak to four games after recovering from an opening 0-2 record. The Spurs improved to 4-2, while Minnesota dropped to 4-3 following its third defeat in four games.

Wembanyama has now recorded 36 and 43 points in his last two appearances, demonstrating his growing influence as San Antonio continues its impressive start to the season.
