Victor Wembanyama Signs Long-Term Nike Extension with Signature Shoe on the Way

Posted : 31 July 2026

San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has strengthened his partnership with Nike by signing a new long-term endorsement agreement that will include his first signature basketball shoe. The deal was completed before his previous contract was due to expire later this year, further cementing the French sensation's status as one of basketball's biggest global stars. Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The announcement follows another landmark moment in Wembanyama's career after he recently agreed to a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie contract extension with the Spurs. The 22-year-old became eligible to negotiate the new NBA deal shortly after San Antonio's run to the NBA Finals came to an end, securing his long-term future with the franchise.

Nike's renewed commitment reflects Wembanyama's rapid rise since entering the NBA. Alongside the new contract, the sportswear giant unveiled a fresh personal logo inspired by his "Alien" nickname, with his debut signature sneaker now officially in development. While Nike has confirmed the project, the shoe's name, release date and retail details have yet to be announced.

Wembanyama has already built an impressive commercial portfolio beyond basketball. Since 2024, he has served as a global ambassador for luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton, further enhancing his profile as one of the sport's most marketable athletes.

On the court, Wembanyama enjoyed another outstanding campaign in 2025-26. He became the youngest player ever to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award unanimously, led the league in blocked shots, earned All-NBA First Team honours and was selected as an All-Star starter for the first time in his career.

The French center also posted career-best numbers, averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists across 64 regular-season games. He averaged more than three blocks and one steal per game, becoming just the seventh player in NBA history to average at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks over an entire season. He also recorded 42 double-doubles and a triple-double, underlining his dominance on both ends of the floor.
