The continental University basketball championship will bring together student-athletes, coaches, technical officials, and university sports administrators from across Africa in a celebration of sportsmanship, youth development, and continental collaboration through university sports.

Already, 22 universities from 7 African countries have registered to participate in the championship, highlighting the growing stature and influence of the Afro-Varsity 3x3 Basketball Challenge within the African university sports landscape.

The University of Ibadan, renowned for its rich tradition of academic excellence and sports development, has previously demonstrated its capacity to successfully host major university sporting events, including editions of the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games and several national inter-university sporting competitions.

The institution's sports infrastructure, organizational experience, and vibrant university community continue to position it as one of the leading university sports hosts in Nigeria and Africa.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, described the hosting of the championship as another milestone in the university's longstanding commitment to youth empowerment and sports development.

"Beyond competition, this championship represents a platform for intercultural exchange, friendship, youth engagement, and continental unity.

"We are proud to host Africa's brightest university basketball talents and provide an enabling environment for excellence both on and off the court."

Chairman of the University of Ibadan Sports Council and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Professor Oladipo Dele Isiaka, expressed confidence in the university's preparedness to deliver a memorable and professionally organized championship.

"The University of Ibadan is fully prepared and committed to hosting a world-class championship that reflects the excellence, hospitality, and sporting tradition of our institution and Nigeria as a whole.

"Having successfully hosted major university sporting events in the past, including NUGA competitions, we understand the standards required for an event of this magnitude.

"Preparations are progressing steadily across competition operations, accommodation, transportation, medical services, security, and media coordination.

"We are excited to welcome Africa to Ibadan for what promises to be an exceptional championship experience," he said.

The championship is expected to feature high-level 3x3 basketball action, cultural exchange activities, entertainment, and networking opportunities among participating universities and sports stakeholders from across the continent.

"This championship is an important platform for showcasing the growth and potential of university sports in Africa.

It also presents a unique opportunity for Nigeria to demonstrate its organizational capacity and hospitality to the continent.

"We encourage strong nationwide media coverage and broad stakeholder support to amplify the impact of the event and project African university sports positively to the global community" - FASU Executive Member, Chidiebere Ezeani, calls for extensive nationwide media attention and stakeholder support towards the successful hosting of the championship.

The Local Organizing Committee has assured participating institutions and delegations of adequate arrangements covering competition facilities, accommodation, transportation, medical services, security, protocol, and media operations to ensure a successful and memorable championship.
