Tyrese Haliburton’s Historic Performance Powers Pacers Near NBA Finals

Posted : 28 May 2025

Tyrese Haliburton delivered a spectacular performance in the first half as the Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks 130-121, bringing them within one victory of reaching the NBA Finals. Haliburton scored 20 points, handed out 10 assists, and grabbed eight rebounds before halftime, finishing the game with 32 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds—making history as the first player to achieve a 30-15-10 stat line with zero turnovers in an NBA playoff game. The Pacers now lead the Eastern Conference finals series 3-1.

With the series shifting to Madison Square Garden for Game 5, Indiana has the chance to secure a Finals berth for the first time since 2000. Haliburton, reflecting on his performance, expressed his determination to bounce back from a disappointing Game 3 loss and praised his teammates for their support, which helped him thrive on the court.

Key contributions also came from Pascal Siakam with 30 points and Bennedict Mathurin adding 20 off the bench, while Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 31 points.

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau highlighted defensive lapses as a major factor in the defeat, acknowledging Haliburton’s exceptional play and stressing the importance of team defense against elite players.

The winner of this series will face the Western Conference champion, currently contested between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the Thunder holding a 3-1 lead. The NBA Finals are scheduled to begin on June 5.
