Timberwolves Trade Josh Green to Jazz for Cody Williams and John Konchar

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to send Josh Green and cash considerations to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Cody Williams and John Konchar, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Minnesota is expected to retain Williams, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, while Konchar is likely to be waived and stretched. That move would allow the Timberwolves to spread his $2.05 million salary over three seasons and provide additional flexibility under the NBA's apron rules.

The trade also clears the financial path for Minnesota to complete its previously agree deal with Jonathan Kuminga. Moving Green's $14.7 million contract creates the salary room needed for the Timberwolves to use the taxpayer midlevel exception on the former Golden State Warriors forward.

Utah, meanwhile, acquires Green, a versatile 3-and-D wing who should give the Jazz another experienced perimeter option. The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and is expected to provide defensive ability and outside shooting to Utah's rotation.

Williams represents the intriguing long-term piece for Minnesota. The 21-year-old forward was selected 10th overall by Utah in 2024 and will now get an opportunity to continue his development in a new environment after two seasons with the Jazz.

The deal completes another significant piece of Minnesota's roster reshaping as the Timberwolves continue building around their established core and prepare to add Kuminga for the upcoming NBA season.
