Posted : 25 April 2024

In a thrilling showdown, Thierry Darlan's stellar performance propelled Bangui to a 96-93 upset victory over Al Ahly Benghazi in the Basketball Africa League, showcasing his leadership with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Despite Darlan's brief absence, his return to the court helped secure the win as Bangui fought off a late surge from Ahly Benghazi, sealing a crucial victory for their qualification hopes.

Meanwhile, Duke Blue Devils signee Khaman Maluach's impressive display led City Oilers to a historic 82-81 triumph over defending champions Al Ahly, with Maluach contributing 27 points and 16 rebounds. City Oilers capitalized on Maluach's dominant presence, rallying late in the game to secure their first win of the tournament, while Ahly suffered their first defeat.

Darlan's standout performance for Bangui was crucial in navigating past Ahly Benghazi's resilient challenge, with Rolly Fula Nganga also making significant contributions with 30 points. Despite facing adversity, Bangui showcased determination and resilience, exemplified by Darlan's redemption with a critical two-pointer in the closing moments.

In the second game, City Oilers capitalized on Maluach's early dominance to establish a lead over Al Ahly, eventually rallying to secure a hard-fought victory. Despite Ahly's formidable lineup and their trademark resilience, City Oilers' late surge, led by Randy Culpepper, propelled them to a memorable win, marking a significant milestone in their tournament journey.
