Stephen Curry Agrees to Two-Year, $116 Million Extension With Warriors

Stephen Curry has agreed to a two-year, $116 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, keeping the franchise star in Golden State through the 2028-29 season. The deal includes a player option for the final year, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Curry chose a contract below his maximum earning potential after considering several options with the Warriors. He was eligible for an extension worth as much as $136.7 million, but the new agreement gives Golden State additional salary-cap flexibility for future roster moves.

Under the reported terms, Curry’s salary will fall from $62.6 million in 2026-27 to $55.7 million in 2027-28, followed by a $60.2 million player option for 2028-29. The structure is projected to give the Warriors roughly $10 million more in cap space next summer.

The extension also keeps Curry with the only NBA franchise he has played for since being selected seventh overall in the 2009 draft. If he remains through the final season, the four-time champion will reach his 20th NBA season with Golden State.

Curry was limited to 43 games last season because of a right knee injury but averaged 26.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. He enters the new season as the NBA’s career leader in made three-pointers and a four-time champion with the Warriors.

The agreement takes Curry’s career on-court earnings beyond $600 million, while giving Golden State greater room to reshape its roster around its longtime star in the coming seasons.
