Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Thunder to Franchise-Record 15th Straight Win Over Celtics

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 105-92 victory over the Boston Celtics, scoring 33 points and contributing 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks. The win marked the franchise's 15th consecutive victory, setting a new team record for consecutive wins, surpassing their previous best of 14 games in 1996 when they were still the Seattle Supersonics. The Thunder, who have not lost since December 1, continued their dominant streak, showing resilience after overcoming a 13-point deficit in the second quarter.

 

Despite trailing by as many as 12 points, the Thunder mounted a comeback, aided by a balanced team effort. Forward Luguentz Dort, who scored 14 points, highlighted the team's chemistry and unity, noting how they cheer each other on and enjoy their time together on the court. This camaraderie has been built over years of teamwork, and it’s paying off as they currently sit at 30-5, leading the Western Conference.

 

The Celtics, who had been dominant in the first half, struggled in the second half, managing only 27 points. The defending champions’ offensive slump allowed Oklahoma City to close the gap and eventually take the lead. The Thunder’s victory came after a string of impressive comebacks, as they’ve now rallied from double-digit deficits in each of their last four games.

 

Oklahoma City’s success is part of a broader trend in the NBA, with several teams performing strongly. On the same day, the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Darius Garland's 25 points, extended their win streak to 10 games with a 115-105 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, and Utah Jazz all recorded wins in their respective matchups, continuing to build momentum early in the season.
