Shaedon Sharpe Expected to Miss Six Months After Meniscus Tear

Posted : 25 August 2026

Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe is facing an extended absence after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee during an offseason workout. ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the 23-year-old is expected to miss approximately six months.

The injury is a major setback for Sharpe, who enjoyed the best scoring season of his NBA career in 2025-26. He averaged 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game across 50 appearances, although he missed 32 games because of a stress fracture in his left fibula.

Sharpe's absence will leave Portland without one of its key young perimeter scorers for a large portion of the 2026-27 campaign. Based on the six-month recovery timeline, he could potentially return around late February or early March, assuming there are no complications.

The Trail Blazers do, however, have considerable experience in their backcourt. Damian Lillard, Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday give Portland several established guards who can help absorb Sharpe's minutes while he recovers.

The injury also comes just as Sharpe begins a four-year, $90 million extension signed with Portland last year. He is scheduled to earn roughly $20 million during the 2026-27 season.
