Scotland Hand Nigeria Third Straight Defeat in Commonwealth Games 3x3 Basketball

Hosts Scotland strengthened their chances of advancing in the men's 3x3 basketball event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after defeating Nigeria 21-16 in Glasgow on Sunday.

The result condemned Team Nigeria to a third successive defeat, leaving the side with just one victory from four matches in the competition.

Nigeria had opened their campaign with an encouraging win over Cape Verde but have since been unable to build on that momentum, suffering consecutive losses that have dented their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

Scotland controlled key moments of the contest with a composed and disciplined performance, capitalising on scoring opportunities to seal the five-point victory.

With a 1-3 record, Nigeria now faces a difficult path to qualification and must produce strong performances in their remaining fixtures to stand any chance of progressing in the tournament.

Despite the setback, Team Nigeria will be aiming to regroup quickly and finish the competition strongly as they seek to keep their qualification hopes alive in the remaining matches.
