Phoenix Suns Sign Duop Reath to Add Frontcourt Depth

The Phoenix Suns are signing center Duop Reath to strengthen their frontcourt after Mark Williams suffered a shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out for several months, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Reath, 30, spent his first three NBA seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks in February and later waived. He now returns to the league with Phoenix as the Suns look to add experience and depth at center.

The Blazers signed Reath as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and later converted him to a standard NBA contract during his rookie season. He averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game that year, although his playing time decreased over the following two seasons.

Reath made 146 appearances for Portland across three seasons, averaging 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. His arrival gives Phoenix another experienced option while Williams recovers from his shoulder injury.

The Suns also have young center Khaman Maluach, whom they selected with the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Reath's addition provides Phoenix with another frontcourt option heading into the 2026-27 season.
