Paul George Undergoes Knee Procedure, to Begin Rehab Ahead of 76ers Training Camp

Posted : 15 July 2025

Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee on Monday to address an injury he sustained during a recent workout, the team confirmed. The surgery was carried out by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at NYU Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center.

Following the operation, George will now enter a rehabilitation program. The team plans to reevaluate his condition before training camp begins in September.

At 35, George has faced consistent injury setbacks in recent seasons. Last year, he appeared in only 41 games due to a combination of knee, groin, and finger issues. His participation has been limited to fewer than 60 games in five of the past six seasons.

George's scoring also dipped significantly last season, averaging just 16.2 points per game — his lowest output in over ten years — before his season was cut short in March. That decision followed a series of injections he received in both his left adductor and left knee in an attempt to manage the pain.

A nine-time NBA All-Star, George is entering the second year of a four-year, $212 million deal with Philadelphia, which he signed during the 2024 offseason.

The 76ers struggled last season, finishing with only 24 wins — their fewest since the 1994–95 campaign. Injuries were a major contributor to that decline. Franchise cornerstone Joel Embiid was limited to just 19 appearances, and the team’s star trio of Embiid, George, and Tyrese Maxey shared the court in only 15 games for a total of just 294 minutes.

On a more optimistic note, team president Daryl Morey recently stated that Embiid is progressing well following his own knee surgery in April and is expected to be fully fit for the start of training camp.
