Nuggets Secure Playoff Spot with Dominant Game 7 Win Over Clippers

The Denver Nuggets advanced to the NBA Conference semi-finals after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 120-101 in Game 7 on Saturday. The Nuggets, who were the fourth seed in the Western Conference, took control in the decisive match played in Denver, with a strong third-quarter performance that saw their lead grow from 11 to 27 points. This win allowed them to secure a spot in the next round, where they will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, the top seed in the conference.

 

Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun led the Nuggets' offensive charge, with Gordon scoring 22 points and Braun adding 21. The team's well-balanced scoring was evident as six players reached double figures, with Russell Westbrook contributing 16 points off the bench. Nikola Jokic, despite falling just short of a triple-double, played a crucial role with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, alongside three steals, demonstrating his all-around contribution.

 

Nuggets' center Jokic emphasized the importance of team effort in the playoffs, saying, "Everybody needs to step up," and praised the contributions from all players. Despite their dominance, the Clippers struggled to match Denver’s intensity, with Kawhi Leonard leading his team with 22 points, while James Harden was limited to just seven points, despite registering 13 assists.

 

The Clippers’ first-round exit marks their third consecutive loss in this stage of the playoffs. Meanwhile, attention now turns to the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets, who will face off on Sunday for the final Conference semi-final spot. Additionally, the Indiana Pacers will begin their semi-final series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
