Nikola Jokic Leads Nuggets Past Spurs to Secure No. 3 Seed as NBA Playoff Bracket Takes Shape

Posted : 13 April 2026

Nikola Jokic delivered a dominant first-half performance as the Denver Nuggets defeated the San Antonio Spurs 128–118 on the final day of the NBA regular season. The win secured Denver the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference heading into the playoffs.

Jokic finished with 23 points and eight rebounds in just over 18 minutes of action, as the Nuggets locked in their postseason position early. His brief appearance also ensured he reached the required 65 games to remain eligible for season awards. Denver will now face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.

The result also impacted the Los Angeles Lakers, who dropped to the No. 4 seed despite a 131–107 win over the Utah Jazz. The Lakers were without injured stars Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves, but veteran LeBron James still impressed with 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds in a strong first-half showing. Los Angeles will now meet the Houston Rockets in the opening round.

Elsewhere, the Spurs finished as the No. 2 seed and will await the winner of the play-in tournament clash between the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns. San Antonio rested Victor Wembanyama after his recent standout performance, while De’Aaron Fox led the team with 24 points in their final regular-season outing.

With the regular season concluded, attention now turns to the playoffs and play-in tournament, which will determine the final seeding in both conferences. Top seeds such as the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West and the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics in the East now await their opening-round opponents as the postseason picture becomes clearer.
