The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), in partnership with long-time title sponsor Zenith Bank, has announced that the 2025 Women’s Basketball League season will officially begin in July. This signals another vital step in the continuous revival and consolidation of women’s basketball in the country.
The league, widely regarded as the top platform for elite women’s basketball talent in Nigeria, has been a cornerstone of the NBBF's domestic calendar. This year’s edition is expected to follow the traditional format, featuring regional conferences and culminating in national playoffs that will crown the new champions.
Zenith Bank, a steadfast supporter of the league since 2005, continues its sponsorship as part of its broader commitment to sports development and youth empowerment across Nigeria. Their support has been instrumental in discovering and nurturing talents who have gone on to represent the national team and compete on the global stage.
The NBBF has emphasized that the upcoming season aligns with its “Consolidation Time” agenda, focused on stabilizing domestic competitions, strengthening grassroots pathways, and creating consistent opportunities for female athletes.
Further details, including the full fixtures, team rosters, and host venues, are expected to be released in the coming weeks. With the tip-off now officially set, anticipation is building for what promises to be a competitive and impactful 2025 season for women’s basketball in Nigeria.
