The Minnesota Timberwolves have strengthened their backcourt by acquiring guard Ayo Dosunmu from the Chicago Bulls in a four-player trade, sources reported. Along with Dosunmu, the Wolves also received Julian Phillips, while the Bulls added Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller, and four second-round draft picks as part of the deal.
The move provides Minnesota with a versatile guard who has been producing at a high level this season. Dosunmu, 26, is having a career-best year, averaging 15 points per game, shooting 51% from the field, and hitting 45% of his three-pointers, ranking eighth in the league in long-range accuracy. The acquisition gives the Wolves a chance to evaluate him in the rotation before he becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
For the Bulls, the trade is part of a continued roster transformation. Chicago, currently 10th in the Eastern Conference, has been active this week, having already traded away leading scorer Coby White, top rebounder Nikola Vucevic, and reserves Kevin Huerter and Dalen Terry. The Bulls have also added guards Jaden Ivey, Collin Sexton, and Anfernee Simons, while signing former slam dunk champion Mac McClung to a two-way deal.
The 21-year-old Rob Dillingham, who joins Chicago in the trade, was Minnesota’s No. 8 pick in the 2024 draft but has seen limited playing time. Over 35 games this season, he has averaged 3.5 points and 10 minutes per game, not enough to make a significant impact on a Wolves team coming off consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances.
Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee continues to generate attention. The Bucks have explored trade options for the two-time MVP but remain cautious, with no moves finalized ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.
While teams like the Timberwolves and Miami Heat are reportedly interested, many expect any major decision to occur during the offseason. Antetokounmpo has only one guaranteed season left on his contract, and his player option for 2027‑28, coupled with the possibility of a contract extension starting October 1, may give him more influence over his next destination.
The trade between Minnesota and Chicago marks one of the biggest moves leading up to the deadline, giving the Wolves immediate reinforcement at guard while continuing Chicago’s ambitious rebuild.
