NBA Recap: Lakers Dominate, Hornets Roll in Tuesday’s Action

Posted : 28 January 2026

The NBA action from Tuesday night into early Wednesday produced an entertaining mix of high-scoring performances, dominant victories, and tightly contested finishes as teams across both conferences battled for momentum in the heart of the season.

The Los Angeles Lakers headlined the night with a convincing 129–118 win over the Chicago Bulls. Luka Dončić delivered one of the performances of the season, scoring 46 points and adding 12 assists to lead the Lakers’ offense. LeBron James provided strong support with 24 points as Los Angeles snapped Chicago’s four-game winning streak and continued its push up the standings.

In Charlotte, the Hornets produced one of the most lopsided results of the night, overwhelming the Philadelphia 76ers 130–93. Brandon Miller paced the Hornets with 30 points, while all five starters reached double figures. Charlotte took control early and never looked back, extending its winning run with a dominant all-around display.

A dramatic finish unfolded in Detroit, where the Pistons edged the Denver Nuggets 109–107. Tobias Harris scored 22 points in a milestone appearance, while Cade Cunningham added 22 points and 11 assists. Denver stayed within striking distance throughout, but Detroit’s execution in the closing moments proved decisive.

The Washington Wizards recorded a rare home victory, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 115–111 in a back-and-forth contest featuring numerous lead changes. Rookie Alex Sarr starred with 29 points and 12 rebounds, helping Washington secure a hard-fought win in a tightly contested matchup.

In Minnesota, the Timberwolves dominated the Golden State Warriors 108–83, controlling the game with strong defense and rebounding. Minnesota pulled away in the middle quarters and cruised to a comfortable win against a Warriors side that struggled to find rhythm offensively.

Elsewhere, the Cleveland Cavaliers continued their strong form with a 114–98 victory over the Orlando Magic. Donovan Mitchell exploded for 45 points, powering Cleveland to its fourth straight win and reinforcing the team’s growing confidence in the Eastern Conference race.

The night’s results showcased the league’s depth and unpredictability, with superstar performances and team efforts combining to produce another compelling chapter in the NBA season.
