The 2026 NBA offseason remains on hold as franchises across the league await LeBron James' decision on his future. Several free-agent moves and trade discussions have slowed, with many front offices expected to act once the veteran superstar announces his next destination.

One of the biggest names generating interest is Mario Hezonja, who appears set for an NBA return after spending several successful seasons with European giants Real Madrid. The former fifth overall draft pick last played in the NBA during the 2019/20 season with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Multiple teams are reportedly monitoring the 31-year-old forward, who has rebuilt his reputation in Europe. His ability to play on the wing, handle the ball and stretch the floor could make him an attractive low-cost addition for contenders seeking experienced bench depth.

Bradley Beal is another player attracting attention despite an injury-hit campaign. The veteran guard played only six games for the Los Angeles Clippers before a fractured hip ended his season. After declining his player option, Beal entered free agency and is reportedly being watched by the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Clippers.

League insiders believe discussions surrounding Beal will intensify once James finalises his decision, as several teams are preserving financial flexibility before making further roster moves.

Jonathan Kuminga's free agency has also become one of the offseason's biggest storylines. The versatile forward entered the market seeking a long-term contract, but interest has not developed as expected. Sign-and-trade scenarios involving several teams have been discussed, although salary cap restrictions and luxury tax concerns continue to complicate negotiations.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks have all been linked with Kuminga. However, reports suggest there remains a significant gap between the player's salary expectations and what interested teams are prepared to offer.

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis will become eligible for a contract extension on August 6. The Washington Wizards are expected to open negotiations with the veteran forward, whose future continues to attract league-wide attention despite the franchise publicly dismissing trade speculation.

Elsewhere, the Golden State Warriors are reportedly exploring experienced frontcourt options such as Kelly Olynyk and Georges Niang as they continue reshaping their roster. Denver Nuggets officials have also rejected trade enquiries for Cam Johnson, viewing him as an important part of their plans after an encouraging finish to last season.

The offseason has already produced several major moves following the end of the NBA's moratorium period on July 6. Giannis Antetokounmpo joined the Miami Heat, Paul George moved to the Boston Celtics and Ja Morant was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. Other notable transactions included Walker Kessler joining the Lakers, Mitchell Robinson signing with Boston and Norman Powell moving to the Chicago Bulls.

With Summer League now complete and training camps drawing closer, attention remains firmly fixed on LeBron James. His decision is expected to trigger the next wave of signings, trades and contract extensions before preparations begin for the 2026/27 NBA season.
