Murjanatu Musa Wins French League Title Following Basket Landes Dramatic Finals Comeback

Nigerian international power forward Murjanatu Musa has secured her first French Ligue Feminine de Basketball title. The D'Tigress star helped Basket Landes complete an incredible series comeback against Tango Bourges Basket. The dramatic 53-50 victory occurred on Sunday night during the decisive Game 3 of the playoff finals.

Basket Landes successfully overturned an initial 1-0 deficit in the best-of-three series to defend their crown. Bourges Basket had previously dominated the opening fixture with a commanding 67-49 home victory. However, Landes rallied fiercely at the Espace Francois Mitterrand to claim consecutive home wins and secure a 2-1 series triumph.

The deciding showdown remained exceptionally tight from the opening tip-off. Both heavyweights finished the first quarter level at 15-15 before entering the halftime break locked at 27-27. Bourges managed to edge ahead with a 40-36 advantage in the third period; however, the hosts delivered a clinical fourth-quarter response.

Musa played a pivotal role in anchoring her team’s frontcourt throughout the physical battle. The Nigerian star recorded eight points, nine rebounds, and two assists on the night. She finished the match as the joint third-highest scorer for the newly crowned champions.

A clutch three-pointer from guard Marie Pardon with just 17 seconds remaining on the clock ultimately sealed the victory. Guard Leila Lacan led the scoring charts for Landes with 19 points and was deservedly named the Finals MVP. The historic victory ensured a domestic double for the club following their earlier French Cup triumph.

The championship victory marks a monumental milestone for the 26-year-old Nigerian forward in European basketball. Musa moved to France ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign following a successful stint in Spain with Celta Vigo. Her consistent elite rebounding and interior defense helped Basket Landes secure their third league crown in club history.
