The Wisconsin women’s basketball team has strengthened its roster by adding another experienced backcourt player for the upcoming seasons.
On April 23, the Badgers officially welcomed Kyrah Daniels, a 6-foot guard who spent her first two collegiate seasons with Missouri State.
During her time with the Bears, Daniels contributed to a successful campaign that saw Missouri State post a 26-9 overall record and tie for first place in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 16-4 mark. The team reached the second round of the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament, falling to eventual champions Minnesota.
Basketball runs in Daniels' bloodline. Her mother, Vicki Daniels, was a standout at Penn State in the 1980s and ranks among the school’s top scorers, while her father, David Daniels, competed for Team Canada in the 2000 Olympic Games.
Over two seasons at Missouri State, Daniels appeared in 63 games and averaged 11 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. She has two years of college eligibility remaining. During the postseason tournament, she boosted her stats to 13 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, shooting 38.4% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc.
Her addition comes as part of a broader effort by new head coach Robin Pingeton to reshape the program. Since stepping into the role last month, Pingeton has brought in several transfers to build a competitive squad.
Other new arrivals include Laci Steele, a 5-foot-11 guard from NC State, Gift Uchenna, a 6-foot-3 forward from Southern Illinois, and Destiny Howell, a 6-foot guard who previously played for Howard.
