Michael Jordan’s ‘Last Dance’ Jersey Sells for Record $12.26m

Posted : 02 October 2026

A Michael Jordan jersey from his final championship season with the Chicago Bulls has sold for $12.26 million (£9.3 million), setting a new auction record for Jordan game-worn memorabilia. The white No. 23 jersey was worn during Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.

Jordan wore the jersey during the season later known as the “Last Dance”, when the Bulls secured their sixth NBA championship in eight seasons. Chicago defeated Utah 4-2 in the Finals, with Jordan earning his sixth Finals MVP award.

The Game 3 jersey was offered by entrepreneur Rob Gough through JOOPITER, the digital auction platform founded by Pharrell Williams. It had been given an estimated value of between $10 million and $15 million before the sale.

The record-breaking sale surpassed Jordan's previous memorabilia record of $10.091 million, achieved in 2022 when the jersey he wore during Game 1 of the same Finals was sold at auction.

Jordan's Game 3 jersey has particular significance because it is the only publicly known white jersey from a Bulls victory during the 1998 Finals to have appeared on the market. JOOPITER recorded the final price at $12.26 million and described the item as a landmark piece of sports history.

The auction also featured Jordan's customized 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello, which sold for $2.7 million.

Despite setting a new record for Jordan memorabilia, the jersey did not surpass the overall auction record for game-worn sports memorabilia. That mark belongs to Babe Ruth's jersey from the 1932 World Series, which sold for $24.12 million in 2024.
