LeBron James Stuns at 41: 30 Points, Historic Dunks Lead Lakers to Victory

Posted : 19 March 2026

LeBron James showcased his enduring talent Wednesday, putting up 30 points in a 124-116 road win over the Houston Rockets. At 41 years and 78 days old, he admitted feeling the weight of age, with ice packs on his elbows and knees and his feet soaking in ice postgame. Yet, once on the court, James moved with vitality, making key plays that fueled the Los Angeles Lakers’ season-best seven-game winning streak.

James’ scoring feat included six dunks, three of which were alley-oops, marking a career highlight he hadn’t reached since March 2017. Marcus Smart’s unexpected lob set up the first alley-oop, and James soared to complete the dunk, a moment that drew admiration across the league. Luka Doncic, the Lakers’ star teammate with 40 points, praised James’ performance, calling it “insane.”

Austin Reaves, who contributed 14 points and eight assists, highlighted the amazement surrounding James’ athleticism at 41. Kevin Durant echoed the sentiment, noting James’ dedication to his body and predicting he could extend his career another four to five years. LeBron’s dominance also earned him a historic milestone: he became the oldest player in NBA history to score at least 30 points on 90% shooting, surpassing Arvydas Sabonis’ record.

Lakers coach J.J. Redick, also 41, praised James’ preparation and competitive stamina, emphasizing how meticulously he maintains his physical condition. Despite taking fewer shots recently, averaging just under 21 points per game on 61.5% shooting, James has helped the Lakers win seven of their last eight games, often coming off the ball and capitalizing on transition plays.

The chemistry between James and Doncic was evident in the final minutes of the game. Doncic drove through defenders, finding James on a perfectly timed cut for a two-handed finish that put the Lakers up by six points. The play highlighted both their synergy and James’ ability to deliver in clutch moments, reaffirming why he remains one of the most remarkable athletes in NBA history.
