LeBron James Officially Joins Philadelphia 76ers for Final NBA Chapter

The Philadelphia 76ers have officially completed the signing of NBA legend LeBron James, ushering in one of the biggest moves in recent league history. The 41-year-old forward confirmed last week that he would continue his career in Philadelphia, describing the deal as the final contract of his remarkable NBA journey after ending an eight-year spell with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Managing partner Josh Harris welcomed the four-time NBA champion, praising James as one of the greatest players and athletes of all time. Harris said the franchise is excited to see the veteran lead a talented squad featuring Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecombe as the organization pursues its first NBA championship since 1983.

James said the opportunity to compete for another title played a major role in his decision to join Philadelphia. He expressed confidence that he can help transform the 76ers into championship contenders while embracing the chance to inspire a new fan base during what he expects to be the final chapter of his career. Before choosing the 76ers, James was linked with several other contenders, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat. Reports later revealed that Miami had even mistakenly prepared promotional material anticipating his possible return before he ultimately selected Philadelphia.

James arrives in Philadelphia with one of the most decorated résumés in basketball history. He has already won NBA championships with the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, and now has the opportunity to become the first player to capture league titles with four different franchises.

The NBA's all-time leading scorer was drafted first overall by Cleveland in 2003 before winning two championships in Miami between 2012 and 2013. He returned to the Cavaliers to deliver the franchise's historic 2016 title before joining the Lakers in 2018, where he added another championship in 2020. Over his career, James has also collected four MVP awards and earned 22 consecutive NBA All-Star selections, cementing his status among the sport's greatest players.
