LeBron James and Marcus Smart Spark Incredible Lakers Comeback in OT Win Over Rockets

The Los Angeles Lakers produced a dramatic comeback to defeat the Houston Rockets 112-108 in overtime in Game 3 of their playoff series, moving one win away from the next round. What looked like a missed opportunity after blowing a late lead turned into a defining victory powered by veteran leadership and clutch execution.

The Rockets had taken control late in the fourth quarter and led by six points with under 30 seconds remaining, putting the Lakers on the brink of defeat. However, a sequence of high-pressure plays shifted the momentum, including a crucial steal and free throws from Marcus Smart, followed by a game-tying three-pointer from LeBron James to force overtime.

In overtime, Los Angeles took charge. Smart delivered key scoring plays and defensive stops, while Rui Hachimura added steady offense to help the Lakers pull away. The team’s composure in extra time proved decisive as they outscored Houston to seal the win.

LeBron James once again played a central role, finishing with a near triple-double performance and repeatedly stepping up in crucial moments. At 41, he continued to demonstrate his experience and leadership, particularly in late-game situations where the Lakers needed stability.

Despite missing key scorers due to injuries, the Lakers have now taken a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Their resilience has been highlighted by strong contributions from role players stepping into larger responsibilities throughout the playoffs.

The Rockets, meanwhile, were left to reflect on costly late-game errors after another collapse in a winnable position. Their inability to close out tight games has put them on the brink of elimination as the series shifts toward a potential sweep in Game 4.
